Consumer Law

We advise on consumer laws such as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to reduce the risk of challenges from consumers and regulatory bodies such as the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) and Trading Standards to reduce the risk of civil and/or criminal liability and bad publicity.

Although consumers are afforded more protection when dealing with businesses (C2B) in comparison to businesses dealing with other businesses (B2B), the terms and conditions that govern the relationship between consumers and businesses are not always given due consideration.  Businesses often adopt off the shelf consumer terms and conditions and unfortunately these may not necessarily protect your business or reflect it.  Do your consumer terms and conditions clearly reflect the way your business will trade with consumers?  Do they protect your business from challenges from consumers?  Are they fair, transparent and balanced? Have you noticed a pattern in the types of complaints you have received from consumers?

We offer a bespoke consumer terms and conditions drafting service. We can also update your existing consumer terms and conditions. Once we have taken the time to understand your business, we will draft business to consumer terms and conditions (B2C) that will be based on the type of goods and/or services you offer to consumers.  We can also assist you with privacy policies, cookie policy, end user licence agreements for mobile apps etc.

We can travel to your offices, meet you at a central location or discuss matters remotely (via phone/email/video conferencing).
